Axe King's Fret on Fire
Bruce Kulick, National Indoor Arena,
Birmingham
Rock guitar superstar Bruce Kulick barstormed his way through his most intimate gig in the last five years - playing to just 400 fans at the city's International Guitar Festival.

The KISS axeman usually plays to giant football stadium crowds, but cranked up the amps and played a varied set for a mixture of the faithful and the curious.

From an opening KISS trilogy of Unholy, Heart of Chrome and Tough Love he ran through a gamut of styles designed to show off his fiery fretboard skills.

Highlights included Liar, a rock ballad sadly rejected for the next KISS album, and the jazz-rock fusion of 495 from Kulick's early days on the pub circuit.
