Undercover.com.au /Paul Chashmere - Former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick has chosen Melbourne's Stand to be his backing band for his upcoming Australian tour. The Stand / Kulick relationship goes back to 1998 when they opened for ESP, the band made up of ex-Kiss and Motley Crue members. Stand are honoured to be chosen to back Kulick. "Many of the songs we are going to play with Bruce are the songs that we learnt to play our instruments to and the Kiss fans will be blown away with the songs that have been picked," drummer Stephen Crafter said. They have re-vamped their line up specifically for the shows and in doing so have created a pedigree of their own. Vince Contarino, vocalist for the most successful concept band ever in Australia, the Zep Boys will be fronting Stand and handling the vocals along with Bruce. Matthew McAuliffe from the most popular Kiss cover band, Dinissty will be playing bass along with Stephen Crafter (also of the Zep Boys) and Paul Drennan who founded Stand. Stand will perform a 40 minute set of their own music to open the show and after a brief break will re-emerge with Bruce Kulick to play a selection of songs from Bruce's solo album and Kiss songs from Bruce's years with the band. Beat.com.au - With the release of his first solo album, Audiodog, Bruce Kulick, lead guitarist of KISS from 1984 to 1996, is returning to Australia. Kulick will be performing with a full band playing songs from his solo album as well as celebrating his 12 years with KISS. Since departing KISS in late 1996 after the band re-applied the make up, Bruce has released three albums with his new band UNION and also performs lead guitar in the classic American rock band, Grand Funk Railroad. Bruce is no stranger to Australia having performed as lead guitarist on the Bat Out Of Hell tour with Meat Loaf in 1978, with Kiss on their sell out tour in 1995 and again in 1998 as part of the all-star band, ESP, featuring Motley Crue vocalist John Corabi and fellow Kiss drummer, Eric Singer. Catch him and his Aussie backing band Stand at the Corner, Richmond on February 1.
To Cyberfunk and GFR Fans, Hope you all had a great Christmas. GFR has had some time off to spend with friends and family and now we are ready to rock for another year.
We just finished a photo and video shoot in LA with world famous Norman Seeff (Good Singin', Good Playin') and we will be using much of this shoot for the web site as well as many other projects. Also, we are busy
working on new songs for the show and will be introducing new material all year. Max and Bruce have collaborated on a new song that is incredible. Don and Max got together in Phoenix recently and worked on
some great new song ideas as well.
Last year was terrific for us in that we were able to re-establish ourselves as a touring act that is a true contender. Thanks to all of you for your continued support. It's great to see so many friends in the
audience everywhere we go.
9/11 has changed the way we all think, feel and go about our daily routine. Our hearts go out to all the families of the victims and all Americans. Through music, among other things, may this year heal the wounds and set humanity on a course toward peace.
HAPPY NEW YEAR and SHINE ON!
Don, Mel, Max, Bruce and Tim
